When I decided it was time for a new computer, I decided that I wanted to get a laptop so that I could work while my daughter plays in the backyard, and so that I could have something to go with me when I travel. It was an easy choice, but I had no idea about notebook memory, or what type of features I wanted to have. I know what I liked to use on our desktop, but it is so old that I wasn’t sure what would be available today. I was shocked when I went to look at laptops, and I am still amazed at what I got.

The desktop we have is about five years old. That doesn’t sound old, but if you have a computer that old you know it is a dinosaur, so to speak. The one thing I was concerned with was the notebook memory, and that is because I need a lot of it. Most people do, but I really need to have a lot of it for my job and also for the hundreds of photos that I tend to take. When I compared what I could get as far as notebook memory with what our desktop has, I was blown away.

I have 80 gigabytes in memory, though I really don’t know what that means. I do know that my old desktop only has one or two. That is a huge difference. It just shows you how far computers have come in the last five years. I would think in another five years there would be enough notebook memory on one machine to store the information for an entire library. It is just amazing to me. My husband now uses our desktop, but once he saw what I got for half of the price we paid five years ago, he has his heart set on getting something new. I don’t blame him one bit.

I’m not sure if I have a lot of notebook memory, or if what I got is pretty standard for today. I think there are many better ones on the market, but this does what I need it to do, and I am very happy with my purchase. I’m not sure if you can buy extra notebook memory like you can for a desktop, but I would imagine it is possible. If anything, you can buy external data storage if you find that you are running out of room or if you simply want your machine to work faster.
