Computer Processor

In general, a computer
processor is referred as the brain of a computer that performs all the calculations and necessary operations.  At present Intel computer processor is the top choice of many people.  Starting with the basics, the speed of computer processor is generally measured in terms of ‘Megahertz’.  A computer processor is also called a microprocessor.  The computer processor is and will always be an important consideration when purchasing a computer.

The modern computer processor is really made up of a several parts that work together, each part contributing to the speed at which work gets done.  A computer processor is used to control the operation of the computer in accordance with the computer programming stored in the hard drive.  Every action performed by a computer processor is a combination of positive and negative signals flowing through basic logic gates.

Processor speeds are measured in Megahertz (MHz), with each MHz representing 1 million cycles per second (the number of times the computer processor is able to perform a task).  Megahertz Speed: Most of the megahertz speed of a computer processor is unused if you mainly use word processors, spreadsheets, database applications, e-mail, web surfing and simple photography tools.

If the computer processor is getting too hot it can cause the computer to freeze.

When more than one computer processor is used, instructions may be executed simultaneously.

The difference between a computer processor and a human brain can also be described in terms of systems architecture: the computer processor is a single processor that processes many different kinds of mathematical operations within a very short time, while our brain consists of many zillions of processors, each with a very limited set of operations and also very limited processing speed, but interwoven in a very complex manner yet not fully understood.  A computer processor is a complex digital circuit composed of millions of logic gates.  The key buying point to summarize: choosing the right type of computer processor is all about the performance of your computer and performance is typically measured in terms of speed.
